Many victims of the General Slocum Steamship Disaster are interred at Green-Wood. Additionally, the namesake of the ship, General Henry Warner Slocum (1826-1894) is interred at Green-Wood (Lot 28760, Sec. 139). Horace Greeley (1811-1872), founder and editor of the New York Tribune, is interred at Green-Wood (Lot 2344, Sec. 35). |
