Sepia toned press photograph of actor William S. Hart seated beside the grave and memorial of his beloved "Pinto Pony Fritz," on his Ranch in Newhall, California. Hart is pictured in old age looking upon the large stone structure and bronze plaque that memorialize the pinto pony with whom he shot many of his films, Fritz. Hart wears his signature cowboy hat and holds his dog under his arm. There are flowers in front of the memorial as well as a ribbon that reads, "To Rio Jim's Horse, Loved by All Children of France." William S. Hart was known as "Rio Jim" in France. Two small spanish language captions are affixed to verso. |
