Description |
Copper pin promoting the naming of Anaconda as the state capital of Montana. In 1894, "Copper King" Marcus Daly spearheaded a campaign to have Anaconda designated as the capital. A vote in November 1894 determined that Helena would remain the capital city of Montana, though Anaconda came in as a close second. The pin reads "Anaconda of Montana," with an image of a domed building, similar to the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., bearing the text, "The Capital." Attached to a pale blue ribbon with a brass pinback. |
