In an 1875 scandal, Henry Ward Beecher (1813-1887) was tried on charges that he had committed adultery with a friend's wife, Elizabeth Tilton (1834-1897). Beecher is interred at Green-Wood (Lot 25911, Sec. 140), as is Elizabeth Tilton (Lot 18485, Sec. 51). |
