Stevedores Bathing Under Brooklyn Bridge |
Description |
This work depicts a large group of stevedores, who work the docks in Brooklyn, bathing along the side of the East River, under the Brooklyn Bridge. The Brooklyn Bridge stretches across the upper portion of the composition, with a few shadowed boats on the rough water below. The shadowed skyline of Manhattan is visible in the background. The painting is primarily composed of shades of gray, the skin tones of the nude men standing out starkly against the dreary cityscape. |
